WATCH: Sothis — "Of Night And Silence"
De Oppresso Liber, the full-length debut by Los Angeles-based symphonic black metal stalwarts Sothis, was one of our favorite metal records of 2008, a heinous (in the best possible way) musical excursion through the blast furnaces of Hell itself.
The band is scheduled to head into the recording studio this spring to craft the follow-up, tentatively due out in late 2010. But while we're anxiously awaiting more Sothis music, the band has kindly offered up a little something to tide us (and you) over — a killer video for their De Oppresso Liber track, "Of Night And Silence."
“After making the 'De Oppresso Liber' video, the band wanted to make a video for another song from the same album, but do something a bit more affordable without compromising quality," explains vocalist Drogoth. "I came up with the concept for the 'Of Night and Silence' video because I felt that this song had great energy and perfect pacing for this type of concept.“
The video was shot in Los Angeles with high-end fashion photographer Csaba Fikker as Director of Photography, and was directed and edited by Drogoth, who also handled all of the visual effects. The resultant clip nicely captures the band's power and dark presence — and it makes its world premiere here at ShockHound! Just click the "play" button above, and prepare thyself to rock!
