WATCH: Strung Out — "Carcrashradio"

"Tell me something no one else would know/As we lose our minds and we're getting high to the radio," sings Strung Out's Jason Cruz on "Carcrashradio," the second single from from the band's new Agents of the Underground album. And while we probably can't tell you something you don't already know about these Southern California punk veterans, we can show you something you haven't seen before — i.e.,  the new video for "Carcrashradio," their adrenalized tale of obsessive romance and vehicular rollovers.
The clip, which somewhat inexplicably opens with Cruz performing a hearfelt acoustic version of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me, Babe" while a cobra dances behind him, quickly kicks into gear with high-energy footage of Strung Out doing what they do best: namely, busting out the punk-rock jams in front of an amped-up audience.
Of course, these guys have had some practice at it by now; they've been at it in one form or another since 1989, when they first formed in Simi Valley, CA, and are currently celebrating their 20th anniversary by once again touring their tattooed asses off. (Yeah, yeah, we know — it says everywhere on the internet that Strung Out formed in 1992; but if the band says it was actually 1989, we're not gonna argue with 'em.)
"“With Agents Of The Underground, I wanted to acknowledge the fact that we are still alive and kicking just below the consciousness of the mainstream media and are celebrating our place here in 'The Underground,'" Cruz explains. “Like a resistance movement, we move freely and without boundaries. We say what we feel and do it all our own way, and we've done it all this time without radio, without TV, and without the help of a corporate record label. We are the essence of what the punk rock movement started out as and has strayed so far from. We are living proof that you can succeed by doing things your own way.”
We'll definitely drink to that — just not while driving.
