It's been 20 years since the five members of the 69 Eyes first came together in the all-night drinking establishments of Helsinki, Finland, bonded by their mutual love of glam metal and gothic-tinged rock 'n' roll. But while the self-described Helsinki Vampires have sunk their fangs into willing necks around the globe since then, mainstream success has thus far eluded them in the US. Though that may well be about to change...
For the new, aptly-titled Back In Blood, the band hired American producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed, Monster Magnet) to give their ninth album some extra rock punch. "It's like when Rick Rubin helped the Cult discover themselves on Electric," explains frontman Jyrki 69, "We made a similar spiritual journey with Matt."
Given the ecstatic reaction to the album's lead single, "Dead Girls Are Easy" — which you can download here for FREE — and its accompanying, Bam Margera-directed video, signs look good for the 69 Eyes to do some serious Stateside damage this time out.
ShockHound is especially pleased to present five exclusive video interviews with the band, filmed as the band prepared to unleash Back In Blood upon an unsuspecting world.
