Kings Of Leon Announce Biggest US Arena Tour Yet

03-17-2010

The novelty of admiring the shiny new Grammy awards gracing their mantle has apparently worn off for Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon. The Followill brothers nabbed three golden gramophones — including Record of the Year for “Use Somebody” — at this year’s awards ceremony, but they aren’t content to rest on their laurels.
Instead, in addition to their headlining spot at this year's Bonnaroo festival, they will head out on a 31-date tour beginning June 5 for their biggest North American stint to date.
“We are stoked to get back on the road,” drummer Nathan Followill told Rolling Stone. “We’ve had a little break and are starting to get that itch.”
Kings of Leon haven’t put out any new material since 2008’s Only by the Night,  but they are currently working on an upcoming album. "The new stuff is all over the place," Nathan told Spin. "There's stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There's stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There's stuff that sounds like the Band. We're pretty much to the point now where... [we can] try stuff we would've been scared to death to try on the first couple of records."
Sounds intriguing…and if you’re lucky enough to nab a ticket for one of the upcoming shows, you may just catch a live preview of the new material. “It will be cool to see if we can sneak in some new shit to see if the kids dig it,” says Nathan. Well, they’ve had no problem getting fans to dig them thus far...
Since “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody” catapulted them to worldwide fame, the days of catching the brothers at an intimate club venue are long over. The stops on their upcoming tour are mainly arenas, enormo-domes and open-air amphitheaters. And if their show in London’s Hyde Park this summer is any indication — tickets literally sold out in seconds — we’re betting plenty of dates on their US headlining tour will be bought up fast. Tickets for most of the shows go on sale this week. Official dates and venues are as follows:
