Okay, all you gamers and metal fans out there: Pay close attention, because you don't wanna miss out on this righteous deal. From this very moment through the end of March 3, ShockHound is offering God of War: Blood & Metal — the six-song soundtrack to the hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 video game, God of War III — for the ridiculously nice price of $1.99. Pre-order it now at that price, or download it on Tuesday or Wednesday once it's officially released; either way, the $1.99 offer is good until the end of Wednesday.
So what do you get for just under two bucks? How about six ass-kicking, previously unreleased tracks from Killswitch Engage, Opeth, Trivium, Dream Theater, Mutiny Within and Taking Dawn, all of which were inspired by the video game? For a taste, just click the "play" button below for a full-stream stream of "Shattering the Skies Above," Trivium's epic contribution to the soundtrack.
“When we were initially asked to write an original song for the game, we were slightly perplexed since we’ve never actually written a track for something other than a Trivium record,” says Trivium vocalist Matt Heafy. “But we answered the call as we are fans of the game. Writing the song was a fun experience. We started piecing riffs together on tour and then we really put time into the song when we got home and had the chance to go into the practice space to work on our ideas as a group. This new song captures a certain energy we've been trying to harness on record as well, as it will show all our fans worldwide where Trivium is heading musically in the future.”
“I have played the previous God of War releases,” adds Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones. “To be a part of this game in any fashion is amazing! Let the rivers flow red with blood; there is vengeance to bestow! Bring me more new finishing blows to my enemies!"
Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Santa Monica Studios, the God of War video game brings epic battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him.
