  While 1980's ACE OF SPADES might not be Motorhead's best album — certain hardcore Lemmy aficionados have been known to prefer 1979's OVERKILL, 1981's live NO SLEEP 'TIL HAMMERSMITH, or even 1991's 1916 — it IS their most quintessential. Too heavy for punk, too raw for metal, the Lemmy-Philthy-Fast Eddie lineup plows a dirty hard rock trench between the two with classic tracks like "Love Me Like A Reptile," "Jailbait," "(We Are The) Road Crew," "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch" and the anthemic title track, all of which communicate pretty much all you need to know about the Motorhead world view. This expanded and remastered "Deluxe Edition" puts the original album on the first disc, then fills the other with alternate takes (several of which, like the rare version of "Ace of Spades," show how different Lemmy can make a song sound with just some subtle changes in his delivery), BBC sessions, and "Dirty Love," the oft-overlooked b-side of "Ace of Spades."
