This French dance act comprises Xavier de Rosnay (b. Paris, France) and Gaspard Augé (b. Paris France). The duo fell into music production through contacts they made in Paris while working as graphic designers. In 2002, the duo locked themselves in Rosnay's bedroom and used basic computer and analogue equipment to perfect their particular brand of twisted dance music. Even before the release of their debut 12-inch "Waters Of Nazareth" on the French label Ed Banger Records, they achieved huge success with the remix "We Are Your Friends" by Simian, helping spawn the "new rave" genre. The release of "Waters Of Nazareth' further solidified the duo as the natural successors to Daft Punk's cut-and-paste synth-disco crown. Over the next two years de Rosnay and Augé produced remixes for acts as diverse as Death From Above 1979, Britney Spears, Franz Ferdinand and N.E.R.D., applying a caustic but very dance-floor friendly shine to all of their clients" music. The money generated by the remix work enabled the duo to rent a small basement space in Paris, which they turned into a studio, locking themselves in for the best part of 2006. The equipment they bought for the space was very basic. In 2007, their debut album (represented by the huge light-up cross that dominates the duo's live set) was released on Ed Banger Records. From the aural sound clash of the opening "Genesis" the music pummelled and elated the listener in equal measure, borrowing heavily from the scattergun approach heard on Daft Punk's 2001 album Discovery.
