The success during the mid-90s of US bands such as Green Day, Rancid, and the Offspring seemed to open up the floodgates for similarly styled hardcore pop punk acts, as evidenced by the emergence of the Gainesville, Florida, USA-based quartet Hot Water Music. Originally formed late in 1994, Chuck Ragan (vocals/guitar), Chris Wollard (vocals/guitar), Jason Black (bass) and George Rebelo (drums) immediately began issuing recordings and touring on a steady basis. A few singles and EPs followed, as well as albums Finding The Rhythms (1995), Fuel For The Hate Game (1996), and Forever And Counting (1997). Shortly after the release of the latter, the band was forced to take a hiatus owing to personal differences. Having sorted out their problems, the quartet reunited and bounced back in 1999 with Live At The Hardback and No Division. Shortly after the dawn of the new millennium, Hot Water Music signed with the renowned US punk label, Epitaph Records, for whom they debuted with 2001's A Flight And A Crash and the following year's Caution.
