Formed in Texas in 2000, this US alternative metal band spent several years playing the live circuit before making the breakthrough to national acceptance. Lacey Mosley (b. 4 September 1981, Arlington, Texas, USA; vocals) met James Culpepper (b. 21 June 1981, Texas, USA; drums) when she moved to the city of Temple at the start of the new millennium, and with the addition of guitarists Jared Hartmann and Sameer Bhattacharya (b. 31 August 1984, Belton, Texas, USA) and bass player Pat Seals they formed Passerby. After self-releasing a series of EPs and gaining a cult following on the Texas scene, they changed their name to Flyleaf and signed a contract with Octone Records. Their self-titled debut album was a slow-burning success that spawned the radio hits "I'm So Sick", "Fully Alive", and "All Around Me" and eventually achieved platinum sales status.
In 2006 the band switched to the J Records label and toured extensively, making notable appearances on the Family Values and Music As A Weapon III tours.
