About Green Velvet

b. Curtis Alan Jones, 26 April 1967, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Whereas Cajmere is the name associated with his house productions, Green Velvet is Jones' green-haired techno incarnation. Jones became interested in club culture while studying a degree in chemical engineering at the University Of Illinois. After graduating in 1991, he pursued his musical interests as both a DJ and producer. Establishing his own label, Cajual/Relief, he released his own infectious, humorous singles such as "Preacherman", "Answering Machine", "The Stalker" and "Flash' (released in the UK on the Open label) as well as those by DJ Sneak, Glenn Underground, Paul Johnson, Gemini, Tim Harper and Boo Williams. His debut as Green Velvet, Constant Chaos demonstrated Jones" fondness for both house and techno and drew inspiration from both the sinister disco of Grace Jones and the eccentricity of P-Funk. The Nineties compiled the best of his singles.
