The music climate has changed drastically since Story Of The Year burst onto the screamo scene in 2003 with their debut disc PAGE AVENUE, which featured the hit single “Until The Day I Die.” While countless musical trends have come and gone since then, the group’s aptly-titled fourth album THE CONSTANT sees SOTY sticking their melodic metal guns. Opening with the driving “The Children Sing” and the dynamic “The Ghost Of You And I,” the album is the perfect mix of pop accessibility and metal vitriol. That said, some of the finest moments on THE CONSTANT are the most unpredictable, such as the power ballad “I’m Alive” or rabble-rousing punk anthem “Eye For An Eye” — the latter of which proves that Story Of The Year still have plenty of fight left in them. — Jonah Bayer
