Those Motion City Soundtrack fans who’ve wanted to keep their favorite band all to themselves are going to need to learn how to share. The Minnesota quintet have been cranking out synth-laced, emo-influenced punk for almost a decade now, yet still remain on the "cult heroes" side of the tracks. MY DINOSAUR LIFE, however, may be the record that breaks them into the mainstream. The band’s best release to date, the 12-track album features at least six radio-ready tracks, most notably the hook-laden “Her Words Destroyed My Planet,” “A Lifeless Ordinary (Need A Little Help),” “Disappear” and “@!#?@!” — though Justin Pierre sweetly singing “You motherf*ckers” on the latter probably won’t make it past the censors. MY DINOSAUR LIFE just so happens to be the band’s major label debut, but don’t let the words “sell out” cross your mind; the band still crafts energetic, catchy-as-hell pop-punk with sing-along choruses made even more engaging by Pierre’s witty turns of phrase and memorable one-liners. Oh, and don’t worry; the Moog is still in full effect, especially on “Pulp Fiction” which features a full five different synths. So while MY DINOSAUR LIFE is the band’s most radio-friendly release, it's also full of everything that has always made Motion City Soundtrack such a great band in the first place, perfected in one prehistoric-themed package. — Courtney Lear

Alas, Motion City Soundtrack has stolen my heart once again. It took a little while to warm up to this album, to be honest. I wasn't too impressed with the first listen, considering their old works, but the second time through I was completely hooked. I advise getting the deluxe version, if you can. The alternative versions and bonus tracks are extremely amazing. Give it a listen. And then listen again. I mean, REALLY listen. And your mind will be completely blown.
