The latest effort from The Used has officially met all the expectations I've set for them after being a fan over the years. After their last album, which had a more mellow sounding tone overall, it's refreshing that the group has seemingly reverted back to their roots in the best way possible while showing a more mature attitude towards their sound, and leaving behind the angst of their previous releases. Both lyrics and guitar work show that the band has learned how to focus their sound purely around the raw emotion that still resides within them. Bert's lyrics are more on the basic side and don't make for too much deep interpretation, but it's the emotion in his vocals this time that truely makes you feel the pain and anguish as he sings his heart out. Though just as catchy as they've been before, it's Quinns guitar work that empressed me the most. Ditching the overly experimental feel of their last album, he has focused more on his song structure and melodic overtones this time. Even when the guitar is barely heard, and sometimes not even the prevalent instrument, he has still managed to contruct a sound that leaves you wanting to listen to each track numerous times in one sitting. Overall, this album definately earned a 5/5 every second of the way. I highly recommnend this for anyone who was a fan of their self-titled cd, or their sophmore album "In Love and Death".

I have always loved The Used, they always meet my expectations. I have to actually say that they EXCEDE my expectations. They are beautifully well put together on this album, just like every other album they have, and their lyrics are powerful. I absolutly adore Jeph and I think Bert is the greatest singer they could have chosen for the band. Quinn is amazing on guitar and I adore the riffs they come up with for each song. Everytime I listen to one of their songs, I hear no repeating lyrics in any two songs, nor do I hear any drum sound/vocals/bass/or guitar riff they it the same. I applaud The Used for continuing on with their music. Good job guys. I adore and love you to death. I always have adored you guys, and I always will. Love, Sarah Beth.

I believe this is there best album of all. It really shows how the band has grown in the last 5+ years they have been together. There is not many bands that come out with more then two hit cds in the bands life span. For the used to really push the music scene and put a whole new spin on recording... having feed back and actually getting to hear a real guitar without guitar tones add to it. I can't wait to see them play live and what music they make in the future.
