Here’s an interesting combination: a Britpop band comprised of four Latino musicians hailing from South Gate, California, who write insanely likable and catchy jams — at least, likable and catchy enough to garner the attention of Libertines’ Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, who showed up at their London gig. With their last album, THE SCORE, the Tender Box scored an international hit with their catchy tune “Mr. Sister.” (The dancey electro pop anthem won repeated raves from none other than chief hater Perez Hilton himself.) So how do the guys rate on their followup? Unbelievably, even better than before. EP 1 is a tight, five-track release featuring what sounds like hit after hit after hit. Frontman Joey Medina’s voice has finally come into its own, as has the band's sound. From Primal Scream-esque electro banger “Beautiful Sin” to the super dancy “Another Lover,” EP 1 shows the Tender Box at their very best. After ten years of paying their dues, it’s high time for the Tender Box to get some long overdue recognition. – Tatiana Simonian

If you like Dancey Indie Rock like Bloc Party & The Fratellis, She Wants Revenge etc you will like songs like Another Lover and Beautiful Sin. But the Band takes you even deeper into big, lush choruses and arrangements with "Too Hard Too Cold" and "Gravity"which reminds of The Manic Street Preachers and Keane. Something for everyone and highly reccomended!
