These guys are pure genius and talent. The songs are so dark and bitter, but yet I still get so happy when I listen to them. I love how within the album there is solid cohesion while still being both heavy and mellow. Everything about this album is amazing - the breakdowns, the lyrics, the music, the passion. I think that this album proves what Gallows are in this business for - to make music and share that passion. Watch them live to witness it!

"Grey Britain" is the best album of the year. "Grey Britain" is one of the most important albums of the decade. "Grey Britain" is one of the most important punk albums of all time. All three of these statements are true. When was the last time a punk album so important to the music scene came out? '98, when Refused unleashed "The Shape of Punk to Come". Gallows' "Grey Britain" plays like a sequel, except instead of challenging the concept of punk, "Grey Britain" is taking on the future of Britain, and on a larger scale, the world. Musically, "Grey Britain" is mind-blowing. If being on a major label means you can't be punk, I don't want Gallows to be punk. The orchestration on this album absolutely destroys everything incredible that "Orchestra of Wolves" was. The guitars are thrashier, the drums are roaring, and the bass is so good you'll want to kick a child in the head. Of course, Frank's vocals are more viscious than ever, and they're much deeper. You better listen to what he has to say, or he might beat the living shit out of you. You need to hear this album. In addition to the album, "Grey Britain" is a short film comprised of five (six if you're anal) songs from the album: The Riverbank, London is the Reason, I Dread the Night, The Vulture (Act I & II), and Misery. It starts (obviously) on a riverbank, four riders (see, er, listen to: Death Voices) carry a coffin draped in the Union Jack and set it in the river, burning. Through the rest of the film we see a total devolution of London/Britain. Cops are literally pigs, Priests are total creeps, and The Vulture is a bleach-blonde kid with attitude. The finale in Misery is less than satisfactory (not dissapointing, but totally depressing). If you're going to buy a physical copy of the album, buy the cd/dvd, as the film is extremely complementary to the album. (plus around the third minute you can see a guy running in an AFI jacket, that made me grin.) Listen to this album, whether or not you're a punk fan, you'll love it. Every time I hear Frank's labored breathing at the end of "Crucifucks" I'm left wanting to hit something. This is a rare album that hits you deep down in your core, where music should get you.

One of the most aggressive and well put together albums from one of the most impressive live bands I have ever seen. Frank Carter and the rest of the band are seething with anger about the world and the current state of affairs and it shows. Every song on the album offers something new, with powerful vocals and searing guitar riffs. Another jem that makes this album so unique and amazing would have to be track 7, The Vulture. It starts off acoustic and surprisingly slowed down. The vocals are perfect and the song evokes a whole new level of emotions...especially as it continues into Act II, picking up the pace again. Some of my favorite tracks on this album include Black Eyes, Death Voices, The Vulture, Graves, and Queensberry Rules. All in all, one of my favorite albums ever.

My god this album is in your face. The music is as grim as the album name. To fully experience this band is to see them live!
