Featured Editorial Review
Although the band’s nemesis George W. Bush is finally out of office, Anti-Flag still have plenty to be angry about on THE PEOPLE OR THE GUN, and that’s good news for listeners. In fact, the band’s ninth studio album may be the most consistent disc of their career; despite the typically bleak subject matter, you can almost hear them having fun on upbeat tracks like “The Economy Is Suffering…Let It Die” and the Descendents-esque hidden track “Teenage Kennedy Lobotomy.” What’s more impressive, however, is the way songs like “This Is The First Night” prove Anti-Flag have evolved far beyond typical power-chord fare to craft expertly arranged punk songs that are melodic without sacrificing an ounce of vitriol. “The time has come to say goodnight to the old guard,” frontman Justin Sane sings on the celebratory anthem “The Old Guard" — but lucky for us, it seems as if Anti-Flag aren’t going anywhere for a while. — Jonah Bayer

LEGEND! this album is legend! i'll be honest that i am not a long time anti flag fan, growing up i hated politics so much that i hated people who talked about politics so naturally anti flag was not the band for me. For some reason this album impressed me alot. First of all since the Bush administration left office i feel like punk is slowed down. but Anti Flag did not slow down! They are still pissed off at the government. This album is brutally honest. The first track starts off comparing D.C. to sodom and gomorroh and it goes so much deeper than that, talking about all the problems involving our leaders, "Sheeps and shephards clothing" and other insulting lines are thrown at the government. Thats only the start of this pissed off cd, they talk about the bailouts for the rich and how obama is helping big companys and not people who need help, it goes on and one talking about the economy falling apart. This cd is fast pissed off and full of rage. all the people who talked about antiflag "selling out" by signing on a major record need to reconcider those feelings because this album is not a sell out album! They slow down the pissed off flow of the cd with the track "This Is The First Night" and it talks about their history and about just being a band. The lyrics in this cd are so catchy, the melodys are catchy, the riffs are catchy, this album is perfect! i highly suggest everyone giving this album a listen.
